Mentoring The Youth Ministry
You probably know dozens of kids who are at a precarious place in life. Will they make it? Do they have an adult who can help lead them through the tough times ahead? Unfortunately, the answer is to this is often "No!"
There is no greater reward than sharing what you have or know with another human being. As I teach day after day, week after week, and month after month, watching new ideas take root and grow, in minds that never dreamed of trying or mastering this wonderful gift of music, I can barely contain myself. The very concept of passing new ideas, new thought patterns, and influencing another's mind, is at the very least overwhelming. This God given gift of music, business endeavor and the process of sharing this special language of expression with others must continue.
My heart sinks every time I am approached by a would be student, so talented, so mentally and emotionally equipped to handle the task at hand, so driven by desire and ambition, only to find that little or no resources are available. If there were a way that you could feel what I feel, even as I type these words on this page, you would not be able to walk away and dismiss it from your mind and spirit.
If we do not recognize God given talent, ability, skill, ambition, drive, dedication and numerous other traits, that always make themselves known to the close observer, and act in an aggressive manner, someone else will. It is imperative! We are under obligation to our children, teenagers and young adults, to give them every opportunity to develop, improve, enhance, and master any and all skills that come so very easily for them.
They only have one chance!
